Start: 6.30pm

Wine club: fizz for the festivities
There will be more fizz drunk in the next few weeks than at any other time of the year. But which one? Why do we hold Champagne in such high esteem. What is Pet Nat all about? And is it true bubbles have different sizes and densities. Come and join for an evening of exploration that will be informative and fun. Our host for the evening is Olivia Tittley-West who grows, writes, tastes and explains wine in many places and in all its many guises.
Start: 7pm

Supper: One course (vegetarian option available)

Cookery workshop: oven baked fish and sauces to go with.
The Italians, particularly, have a way with fish that is so easy yet so precise. Whole fish, a hot oven and time. Get it right and you will enjoy the juiciest fish that needs nothing more than a squeeze of lemon juice and maybe some salsa verde. Come and explore the tips, tricks and signs for perfect fish and one of the easiest meals to cook at home.
Time: 6.30pm

Wine Club special event: An evening with Simon Tyrell of Les Deux Cols
Simon Tyrell talks about making wine, Les deus Cols and the life of a vigneron. Making wine is a combination of science, craft, experience, judgement and a certain amount of luck. Oh and then there is the weather. Simon Tyrell has been involved in wine all his working life. From Paris to Dublin via Plumpton and now the Rhone (although he still lives in Ireland!). He makes wine in a combination of vessels in his winery just east of Avignon and we sell three of them (he has more). His story is unusual to say the least. Maybe this is what makes his wines so special. Come and hear about the life of an Englishman who has made his life in Ireland and his approach to wine making which is - and I may be biased - revealing, informative and educational and an awful lot of fun.
Time: 7pm for a talk and tasting. We will serve a one-course supper at 8.30 pm with cheese and salad to follow.
Cost: £45

Why Pay More? Three Sauvignon Blancs
What are the reasons to pay more for a wine? We sample three Sauvignon Blancs from entry level to one made at the top of a rather exceptional hill in Austria, by a man obsessed with.. water. There will be ample space for discussion and opinion and a chance to taste comparatively and repeatedly just to make sure your first impressions are correct. And for those who like a glass of red we will have something to drink with your food.

Wine Club July
Three wines, three cheeses. But which wines go best with each cheese? Does goat or cow make a difference and if it does, what does that look like. Tradition would say red with cheese, but this is often not the case. What about orange, or even white? This will be a structured tasting with Hugo taking the group on a journey. There is after all, a matrix to explore. We will follow the tasting with a one-course supper included in the price when you can compare notes and share you thoughts and theories.
Wine Club - June
Come and celebrate English Wine week with a tutored tasting of several of Artelium’s wines with owners Julie and Mark and explore the background to the growing status enjoyed by Sussex as a wine growing region.
From the history, the soil, the challenges wine makers face (yes the weather is still one of them!) to what grows well and why.
We will taste two reds and two whites along with two sparkling wines. Compare and contrast, sip and savour. And then enjoy a causal one-course supper while you make sure your first impressions were correct as all bottles will be on the table
Wine Club - May
Low intervention v conventional wines - what’s the difference?
Come and taste eight wines, four white and four red, two of each conventionally produced and two of each low-intervention. We are delighted to welcome Kevin Barbry from Les Caves de Pyrene who will look at the nuances, explain what low-intervention is all about and introduce you to some of the amazing growers he works with.
There are just 10 places available in order to keep the evening informal and allow for an intimate Q&A session and a chance to really get under the bonnet of the wines we are tasting. Supper is included as part of the ticket price
Start: 7pm
Tasting: eight wines
